About Jerry Hollingsworth
J. Hollingsworth was born and raised on the southside of Chicago, Illinois. Growing up, Hollingsworth always possessed a curious and entrepreneurial spirit, which led him to start his own lawn and landscaping business as a teenager. By the age of 30, Hollingsworth had earned his nurse’s assistant, electrocardiogram (EKG) and phlebotomy certifications and currently serves as a medical professional in Las Vegas, Nevada. “Broken Boy” is Hollingsworth’s debut novel and the first in a series that he has planned to release.

As a child, Jerry’s vivid dreams of flying made him feel invincible, like a “Black Superman.” He leaped over clouds, escaping the troubles of his childhood. But over time, his superpower faded, and he found himself entrenched in a life of incestuous relationships, drug and alcohol abuse, and an identity struggle. Despite losing that childhood innocence, Jerry has always yearned for God to restore those dreams—his only source of peace and closeness to the divine.
A Mother’s Unconditional Love and Unwavering Faith
Jerry’s mother, Jeanie M. Hollingsworth, was a formidable force who raised 11 children on her own. Despite the ridicule Jerry faced from his family and father due to his differences, his mother never turned her back on him. She nurtured him with a love that was unconditional, ensuring he received a solid education and teaching him faith. Even after her passing—a loss more painful than his HIV diagnosis—her influence continues to resonate in his life, as she remains the guiding light that shaped his character.
I don't usually enjoy reading, but this book had me hooked from the first page—it was phenomenal! I've already told my friends to get it—you won’t be disappointed!
